We hope you’re staying at Bamboo Beach Club Resort next month, because there’s a lot going on in April. Not only is the famed Pier 60 Sugar Sand 10-day festival in full swing, but April 14 is a special day for another reason: it’s Dolphin Day!
There is no better place to celebrate the holiday dedicated to these marine mammals than Clearwater. Without further ado, let’s find out how you can nosedive into Dolphin Day.
Dolphin Trail
Some cities have statues of cows, others have bears or pigs as a temporary or permanent exhibition. However, the 6-foot tall dolphins in St. Pete/Clearwater are hard to beat. With over 120 statues scattered across the area, you could be exploring all day long.
Some of our favorites in Clearwater are Speedy (Hercules Ave), Free Loder (Crabby’s Beachwalk Bar and Grill), Homer (Bright House Field) and Crabby Bill (in front of its namesake restaurant). Show your support for the social animals and snap a selfie with your favorite!

Clearwater Marine Aquarium
Known worldwide as “Home of Winter the Dolphin,” Clearwater Marine Aquarium should be part of any visit to Clearwater, but even more so on Dolphin Day. “Rescue, Rehab and Release” is the credo of the aquarium, which means you will meet sea turtles, pelicans, stingrays, otters and of course dolphins that are receiving care from CMA.
You can easily spend three hours at the aquarium checking out the exhibits, taking part in animal experiences and learning about the many inspirational stories. Don’t forget to check “Sea-Orama” on your way out. She’s another dolphin statue, adorned by other sea life.
Boat Tours
Going out on the water to see dolphins in their natural habitat is something that you will never forget. Many of these tours are operated by the Clearwater Aquarium, which means you can rest assured that the welfare of the animals is not in jeopardy.
The most popular tour on offer is the Sea Life Safari, which is a 90-minute hands-on experience on the intra-coastal waterway. Other options are the Dolphin Adventure Tour and the Guided Kayak Tour.
Back at Bamboo Beach Club Resort you can splash around in our outdoor pool yourself and learn more about dolphins using our free Wi-Fi.
