There is no greater symbol representing Clearwater than the dolphin. These intelligent friendly creatures frequently grace the Gulf Coast, and you may spot one during your stay at Bamboo Beach Club Resort.
Not only is Clearwater the home of the amazing Winter and Hope, stars of the Dolphin Tale movies, dolphins are so revered that an artist initiative decided to immortalize the majestic mammals through sculpture.
Clearwater’s Dolphins is an artistic initiative that started a growing pod of six-foot tall intricately decorated fiberglass dolphins, each individually designed by a local artist and sponsored by an area business. The initiative started in 2012 in celebration of the Republican National Convention, which was held in Tampa that year.
The really cool part is Clearwater visitors can see most of them! When visiting Clearwater, a must-do is following the Dolphin Trail. The Dolphin Trail starts at Pier 60, just a few minutes’ walk from Bamboo Beach Club Resort, and a map will lead you through your dolphin-finding adventure. You can see pics of all the dolphins by clicking on their individual locations.
The idea was so well received more and more dolphins have been created and joined the pod, which now has about 115 sculptures.
If you love dolphins enough to follow the Dolphin Trail, you can also take a dolphin sightseeing boat tour with one of the many providers in the area, like Little Toot, Encounters with Dolphins and Calypso Queen (StarLite).
There’s so much to love about visiting Bamboo Beach Club Resort, and Clearwater’s dolphins are definitely among the highlights.
