The Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) is at it again, being amazing and saving lives.
When staying at Bamboo Beach Club, CMA is a must-experience attraction.
In recent years, CMA has gained global recognition as the home to Winter, the dolphin found trapped in a crab net who ultimately lost the back part of her tail and received the first ever prosthetic fluke and joint tail to be put on a dolphin. She and her friend Hope were the inspiration for Dolphin Tale and Dolphin Tale 2.
Winter’s story and others like it are the heart and soul of CMA’s mission. Not only is it a great place to visit and view all manner of adorable and noble sea creatures, it is a “rescue, rehab and release” facility.
Their latest triumph is the opening of the newly renovated and named sea turtle habitat, Mavis’s Rescue Hideaway (so named for the Dolphin Tale 2 character, a rescued sea turtle).
In fact, the new habitat houses the animal actor who played Mavis. “Harold”, who arrived at CMA with a visual impairment in 2010, is one of the many residents of the new habitat.
So, after months of careful planning and construction, Clearwater Marine Aquarium (CMA) has a new home for its resident sea turtles and you can visit them up close and personal!
For something that’s fun, educational and inspirational for the whole family, Clearwater Marine Aquarium is just down the street from Bamboo Beach Club and will be time well spent.
