The idea that vacations and music go hand in hand may not sound strange to you. Think of that one song or playlist that you keep listening to, so that you can relive your last getaway. Why not plan your trip around your favorite artist or band? I have fond memories of a concert I attended in Paris, France (while living in Europe, mind you), and taking in the sights of the city the rest of the trip.

The Tampa area will be hosting many big music stars this upcoming year, so start planning your stay at Bamboo Beach Club Resort now. Our Clearwater retreat will get you tuned up for your next Florida concert!

To give you some ideas, we picked our favorite upcoming shows near the resort – many far enough out to plan your travel. Most of them are right in town or very close by.

January 13 – The Moody Blues

Ruth Eckerd Hall, Clearwater
The rock legends will play their greatest hits, as well as an integral version of their iconic album “Days of Future Passed.”

January 13 – Winter Jam

Amalie Arena, Tampa
The Moody Blues or the Winter Jam Tour Spectacular? Not an easy choice. It’s good to know that Winter Jam is a Christian music festival, and you can only purchase tickets at the door. Skillet, Kari Jobe and Building 429 are just a few acts that you can check out there.

February 9 – Billy Joel

Amalie Arena, Tampa
When the sixth best-selling artist comes to your town, you can expect a show full of musical history. Billy Joel is a true Grammy Legend who has sold out Amelie Arena many times before.

February 15 – Willy Nelson

Ruth Eckerd Hall, Clearwater
Beloved outlaw superstar Willie Nelson returns to Clearwater to perform songs from his impressive musical library.

March 18 – Foreigner

Ruth Eckerd Hall, Clearwater
What do “Cold as Ice,” “I Want to Know What Love is,” “Waiting for a Girl Like You” and “Feels Like the First Time” have in common? If your answer is that they are all hits by Foreigner, then you are absolutely right. Don’t miss the Anglo-American combo, as they are joined by the Rock Symphony Orchestra.

March 31 – Demi Lovato/DJ Khaled

Amalie Arena, Tampa
Join Demi and DJ Khaled on the last stop of their 20-city tour. Both Lovato’s and Khaled’s recent albums received generally positive reviews, so it’s a great time to visit Tampa to see them both in concert.

April 25 – Foo Fighters

MidFlorida Amphitheatre, Tampa
Dave Grohl and the rest of the “Foos” will leave it all on stage, as they bring their big rock sound to the amphitheater at the Florida State Fairgrounds.

April 27 – Alan Parson’s Live Project

Ruth Eckerd Hall, Clearwater
Known as the sound engineer on epic albums, such as Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon,” and the Beatles’ “Let it Be” and “Abbey Road,” Alan Parsons is no stranger to creating hits himself. “Eye in the Sky,” “Time” and “Don’t Answer Me” will surely be part of his setlist.

May 2 – Queens of the Stone Age

Mahaffey Theater, St. Petersburg
Only several weeks after the Foo Fighters visit Tampa, another big rock band lands in St. Petersburg. Whether you sit or stand at the Mahaffey, Queens of the Stone Age will make you dance to songs you did not know you could dance to.

May 11 + 12 – Joe Bonamassa

Ruth Eckerd Hall, Clearwater
When man and guitar become one, you are talking about Joe Bonamassa. His concerts are true experiences, and you should not miss the chance to see him, if you are a fan of the blues-rock genre.

June 2 – Shania Twain

Amalie Arena, Tampa
The “Queen of Country Pop” is back with a new album and tour. Even though Shania Twain is not constantly in the spotlight, she still is the bestselling female country artist of all time.

August 14 – Taylor Swift

Raymond James Stadium, Tampa
Normally the Tampa Bay Buccaneers entertain the crowds at “Ray Jay,” but on August 14 Taylor Swift can have a go at it. Swift’s previous tour, “1999,” was one of the most lucrative and popular tours of the decade. See for yourself if she can once again mesmerize the Tampa faithful.

November 7 – Ed Sheeran

Raymond James Stadium, Tampa
Almost at the end of 2018, and about as far out as concerts are scheduled, we find Ed Sheeran. It’s hard to imagine that only four years ago, Sheeran was merely a support act for Taylor Swift. The Englishman’s star has risen significantly, scoring hit after hit with “Perfect,” “Thinking Out Loud,” “Shape of You” and “Castle on the Hill.”

Why not combine visiting your favorite artist with staying at Bamboo Beach Club in 2018?
